Restorative Yoga & Singing Bowls
Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago.
The singing bowl is a metal bowl or mineral bowl, struck by a mallet, often used in spiritual or religious settings to invoke meditation or relaxation through the resounding vibrations and pleasant sounds it emanates when played.
Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs. Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a young man. Pilates Mat work originated before the creation of any Pilates equipment or “machines” used in the practice today and includes over 500 exercises that can be practiced anywhere. Mat Pilates can be modified for any age, body, or fitness level, and it is even possible to practice modified Mat work in a chair.
Barre fitness is a hybrid workout class - combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and strength training. Most classes incorporate a ballet barre and use classic dance moves such as plies, alongside static stretches. Barre also focuses on high reps of small range movements.
The reformer consists of a bed-like rectangular frame. Depending on whether the reformer is a classical studio version or a contemporary model, this frame is made from either wood or metal. On top of the frame sits a padded platform known as the carriage.
Reform Pilates is a whole body workout. It's designed to improve strength and boost flexibility, balance, posture and coordination. The reformer is a bed-like machine that moves back and forward and features functionalities (i.e. springs) to increase resistance as you workout.
